This is a non-endometriosis post. Continue reading after the break…
I started Lamictal back in January as an add-on for my Epilepsy. This is with my Topamax. Mind you, I’ve been on Topamax before and I started that med in May. Topamax, this go around, had not caused a lick of weight loss. Yeah, I know, I wouldn’t have complained about a couple pounds. But when I started the Lamictal, my appetite turned south. It came back… sort of … after 2 weeks. But I found I stopped eating after a few bites, or after eating half my food. Then my neurologist neurologist had to double my dose (this was after I safely titrated), and again, there went my appetite. It has returned, but it’s not the same. My clothes fit better, so I wasn’t prepared to say anything. Who would, right? Then I went for my pre-op physical this morning and was told I’m down nearly 10 pounds since starting this med! Wow!
Regardless the weight loss – and despite my pleading and bribing (the doctor even refused cash and my first born), if my labs are normal, I’m having surgery next Thursday.
I’m freaking out. I do know my PH is high, but they can’t tell much else because of my Diabetes Insipidus, so who knows. And I highly doubt that’s enough to cancel surgery.
