The Q-Link

classic_lg

Recently, I was asked to review a product – the Q-Link. I was sent a Q-Link pendant, and asked to give the Sympathetic Resonance Technology that comes in the little necklace a try for two weeks. The pamphlets sent with the product boasts of Q-Link’s wonders, and links on their website highlight numerous magazine articles that praise the product. But, I remain skeptical.

One of the product pamphlet’s I received reads: “Doctor’s who tested the Q-Link found that it instantaneously amplified healthy energy states, and decreased energy drains caused by a wide variety of stressors” (Q-Link, REV 1 2008 FORM 050). Could this be the placebo affect? I am putting this to the test by wearing the Q-Link pendant and basing my decision completely on scores (I will discuss this further later on). In the same pamphlet, the company says athletes state their focus and endurance are improved after wearing the Q-Link. Seeing as I am now doing my Wii Fit on a daily basis, and struggling with my balance, I will see if the Q-Link helps improve my focus.

I am always skeptical towards products that claim that all the wearer must to do wear them and they’ll clear the wearers energy field, or chakra, or whatever. The Q-Link claims to clear your Biofield – an energy field recognized by the US National Institutes of Health. I have come across products like this in the past – water that improved clarity, bracelets that helped circulated, the list is endless. All of them had one thing in common – conflicting scientific evidence. Having stated that, I have read through the scientific research given on Q-Link’s web page and it appears their trials were done appropriately. While their samples are rather small given clinical trial standards, their results are promising.

Thus, based solely based on the science behind the Q-Link, and in the interests of science, I have decided to wear the Q-Link for two weeks and report back here with my final review and final scores. My review and approach of this product will be completely unbiased. While, yes, I am skeptical, I am willing to see if it will work. I am taking a completely scientific and logical approach to this experiment. If someone believes something is going to make them feel better, it will. Thus, I am going into this two week experiment as if I am wearing nothing new and in two weeks I will repeat the test that measures my attention, motor accuracy, global performance and etc. I will also be doing so with a different e-mail address and with a different computer so there can be no IP tracking.

I’ve been wearing the pendant for roughly 4 hours, thus far, and feel no different. Let’s see what difference two weeks make.

Here are my preliminary scores, which were taken three days before putting on the necklace:

2 Weeks Wearing Q-Link

As you are all aware from reading the above, I was skeptical when putting this little necklace on 2 weeks ago. Would it work? I highly doubted it would do anything. Most of the time I forgot it was even there until someone pointed it. Many people thought it looked cool. My brother-in-law wants it if I chose to discard it. He’s into the microchip jewelry.

But, I’m thinking I may just hang onto this black diamond with the nifty golden coiled ring and microchip for a little while longer. Why? My scores from two weeks ago were: attention (63%), motor speed – accuracy (67%), global performance (65%), and my reaction time was 737 ms. The first three numbers should be high and the last should be low. So, I was curious to see how my numbers would be this week. I took the test with the perameters I set within my experiment. All was set to test this product when I got some surprising numbers. My attention had increased (80%), motor speed was up (75%),  and global performance, too (78%). Even my reaction time was down to 710 ms, not a huge jump but still an improvement.

Because I didn’t get the results I expected, I’ve decided to leave the Q-link necklace on for either another week or 2 weeks. I’m not sure yet when I will test again. I will log the results when I do. I’m looking to see if this product really is working on my Biofield, or if this was just a fluke.

***************************

I had meant to keep the product on for another 2 weeks but had to remove it for an event. I then decided to leave it off and retake the test to see how my score are. The scores with the Q-Link off were: Attention 85%  (5% increase); Motor Speed is 78% (3% increase); Global Performance 82% (4% increase); Reaction time has increased to 716 from 710.

Conclusion:

It is my conclusion that, with what limited testing ability I have, that the Q-Link products have very little to no affect on one’s reaction times, global performance, motor speed, or attention. I am basing this solely based on my limited wearing of the product and testing of it using their testing game via their website. Given more advanced scientific equipement, the Q-Link may be able to prove more efficiently how it cleanses the bodie’s Biofield but I remain skeptical.

I tried to remain objective to the wearing of this product as not to taint the results, yet subconsciously my mind could have wanted the product to work. How am I to know this is not a placebo affect? This is why I decided to remove the necklace instead of giving it two extra weeks of wear. Seeing as most my statistics continued to increase without the wearing of the Q-Link necklace, I am inclined to believe that the product has very little to no affect on the wearers Biofield. This is what I suspected all along. What I more likely believe affects one’s results are to be factors such as time of day one takes the “Q-Link Challenge”, hunger, fatigue, and any factor that contributes to one’s overall concentration.

Having stated that, the product is rather neat in appearance and I have recieved several comments on it. I’ve been asked numerous times if it’s a microchip, and my brother-in-law is eager to get his hands on mine. The opinion above is purely mine and based on my experience alone. I have no data from Q-Link head quarters, no access to their medical information that helped them obtain patents and such. There may well be legitamite science behind this after all.
