Neurology Appointment Today

I see my Neuroligist today about the results from my recent EMG/Nerve Conduction Study. What fun. Not looking forward to hearing how worse my hands have gotten in the past 3 years. He will be happy to see that I’m wearing both braces. Don’t have much choice now as they ache too badly if I don’t wear them. But I never filled the prescription for the brace he ordered for my left hand. Not yet at least. I just picked up one to match my right one from the drug store. I figured I didn’t want to invest a bunch of money until I know how bad the damage was. Perhaps I’ll need a specific type and will only end up getting a different one. You know?

Also fear this EMG/Nerve Conduction Study result meeting will end up a new set of job restrictions. I am sure it will. This will inevitably tick some people I work directly off because they view medical needs as preferential treatment. So if my boss says my doctor wrote a note saying I can’t do XYZ, suddenly she’s giving me preferential treatment. It has nothing to do with liability and I could sue them if I was forced to do the activity my doctor forbid me to do. Some people do not understand these things and it’s not my job to mess with it. I’m just letting it roll right off me.

  1. Good luck at the neurologist today!

  2. Endochick,

Hope the neuro appt goes well! I have had 3 nerve conduction tests and wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy. Best of luck. Also, you’re right that most workplaces are very clueless about these things.

P.S. I went to the endocrinologist yesterday and my thyroid nodules are doing OK. Yay!

  3. Endochick,

Yeah. The endocrinologist is now the easiest of all my specialist appointments, thank goodness. Just getting checked to be safe. I don’t want to ever have to have that fine needle biopsy of the thyroid done again if I can help it. That was not fun.

How about you? How did you make out with the neurologist?
